20 years! The WNBA is celebrating their 20th anniversary this season. On April 24, 1996 the NBA Board of Governors announced the creation of the WNBA. This is where the "We Got a League" slogan was born. The league started with 8 team, 4 out of the 8 are no longer in existence including this leagues first dynasty team Houston Comets. There have been some moments over the years, like Lisa Leslie of the Los Angeles Sparks in game dunk the crowd in attendance went crazy. The Houston Comets winning 4 championships in a row. The most memorable moment for me was the 1999 season where the Comets were attempting a three peat when teammate and friend Kim Perrot battle with cancer weighing heavily on their hearts. Kim would lost her battle with cancer in August. Moments like those are pieces of my WNBA history. THe foremothers of the league Lisa Leslie, Rebecca Lobo, Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes, Tina Thompson and the rest of the women who played in the inaugural season paved the way for the future stars of today. Ladies of today, Skylar Diggins, Brittney Griner, Maya Moore and Candace Parker are paving the way for the nect future stars of tomorrow. It's no longer a man's league. Fellas these ladies got game.
Los Angeles Chippers Chris Paul "Cheers to 20 more years."
Indiana Pacers Paul George "They have a huge collection of talent that put on a display night in and night out."
