Derrick Rose and friends cleared of rape charges

October 19, 2016

Three hours and 45 minutes. That's how long it took a jury of six women and two men to clear New York Knicks Derrick Rose  and friends of all three sexual battery, battery and trespass claims in a $21.5 million suit. Rose and two of his friends Randall Hampton and Ryan Allen had been accused of breaking into the 30 year old woman's apartment raping her while she was blacked out on August 27, 2013. During the two week long hearing Rose's attorney Mark Baute wanted a mistrial after discovering the woman's defense team withheld a lurid text. The focal point of the case were  a slew of text messages and phone calls the woman exchanged with the men in the hours before the alleged rape became a focal point of the trial as each side sought to prove its account by selectively citing the messages. There was no physical evidence and the victim reported the alleged incident to the Los Angeles Police Department two years after. The LAPD are still investigating. Rose and the woman in question had been in a open relationship for two years which Rose broke off said relationship a few months before the incident in question. Rose who signed with the New York Knicks this summer will be making his return to the court with his new team this season. Stay tuned for more updates on everything sports...
